Longevity is overwhelmingly everywhere: LinkedIn feeds, luxury hotel packages, skincare, apps, you name it. And it’s not a coincidence.

But here’s the truth, the boom isn’t because we suddenly care about regulating our nervous system or perfecting our nutrition. It’s economics.

We live longer, have fewer kids, and our health declines with age. The old reactive health model, treating illness, selling pills, and spending minimal time with patients, worked when younger populations could carry the cost. Now, older, sicker populations are expensive, and fewer young people are available to make up the difference.

That’s why trillions are pouring into the “longevity economy.”
Not enlightenment. Economics.

Meanwhile, most longevity medical advice is pretty straightforward (even if we try to glitz it up):
sleep, eat, move, manage stress, breathe.

Sure, you can layer on blood work, supplements, pharmaceuticals, complex protocols, but none of it will tip the needle if you can’t sustain the basics.

The science is clear.
The challenge isn’t knowledge.
It’s action.

Because humans aren’t rational. Knowing what’s good rarely changes behavior.
COVID made this painfully obvious. The virus wasn’t the challenge. It was getting people to follow simple protocols. Behaviour change is hard. And longevity is harder.

We’re not talking a few months of compliance. We’re talking 20, 30, 40 years of habits. Of identity. When was the last time you sustained a diet for more than a few weeks?

The only way anything lasts is by becoming part of who you are. A ritual. Integrated into your life, through meaning, emotional resonance, and aligned with your values.

This was recently highlighted for me when someone suggested I should “get back to working out.” I paused. Sure, I hadn’t prioritized it lately, not from lack of desire, but different circumstances. 

But something became clear then: working out isn’t a habit I need to restart. 

I don’t need motivation, fancy gyms, or influencer trainers. Working out is a ritual I started at 12 and have fully integrated into my life. 

There’s no returning. It’s always in me. Part of me. It is me.
This is how it has lasted decades, effortlessly. 

No protocol, app, or chart can give you this.
Longevity sticks when it becomes who you are, not what you do.
